It didn't *feel* like a day off

I feel totally drained.  I spent the day at Alex's school helping out with the Young Author's Conference.  I didn't know what to expect, but they left me in a classroom to supervise a scavenger hunt for pages of a story.  The kids were so excited that they couldn't really listen to the clues or each other.  All of the groups found all the pages, got them in order and read the story before time was up.  I'm not sure why I'm so tired when they did all the work, but I'm getting ready to take a nap.

I was going to eat in the cafeteria until I saw the crap sandwiches they had.  Instead I ordered pizza for Alex's group.  I got a discount when I called Papa John's to ask how many pizzas would feed 11 kids and told him I'd order online.  I don't know what kind of deal they have worked out, but he really wanted my phone order.  I told Alex to keep it on the low, but I didn't mention it to the other kids who stood up and yelled to their friends.  ""Hey!  We got pizza!  No!  Stay over there you can't have none!""  Darn kids.  So bad, yet so funny.

Oh, each of the kids made a book with stories or poems.  I only ordered one because I didn't think of the grandparents.  I bet they'd really like one too...these books are so cute.  On the inside back cover there's a picture of Alex and ""about the author"" section.  I'll see if I can scan it at work and make it a powerpoint presentation.

I was serious about that nap.  Have a great weekend!
